Basketball Game Preview: Burroughs Bears vs. Castaic Coyotes

After both having extra time off, the Burroughs Bears and the Castaic Coyotes will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Burroughs has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Castaic will arrive with four straight victories.

Burroughs saw some tournament action last Monday. They fell 64-54 to Hart.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nico Meza, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Everhart, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Castaic humbled Lakeview Charter with a 74-8 victory. The Coyotes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Castaic's win came from a few key players Burroughs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Connor L, who posted 12 points. Dax G was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Burroughs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Castaic, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Burroughs beat Castaic 73-64 in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Will Burroughs repeat their success, or does Castaic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
