Basketball Recap: Promise Tracy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nottoway over Randolph-Henry

Nottoway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-31 heartbreaker at the hands of the Randolph-Henry Statesmen. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Statesmen earlier this season, when they won 38-18.

Nottoway lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Promise Tracy, who went 6 for 7 to rack up 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Tracy now owns an excellent 41.4% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Anna Lee, who posted seven points along with 13 boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Nottoway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Nottoway's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Randolph-Henry, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Amelia County the next time they take the court. Randolph-Henry will host Amelia County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Nottoway will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
