Baseball Recap: Wilmington's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wilmington extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 11-9 in the process. They blew past the Cranberry Area Berries 11-1. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Wilmington got a great performance from Tristen Jones as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. The Greyhounds are 5-1 when Jones allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Chase Mitcheltree was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Wygant, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Wilmington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for Cranberry Area, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since March 29th.

On Cranberry Area's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Marchinke, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Wilmington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cranberry Area, they will welcome North Clarion at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Berries are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
