Softball Game Preview: Mora Rangers/Rangerettes vs. Santa Rosa Lions

On Wednesday, Mora got the win against McCurdy by a conclusive 8-2. The Rangers/Rangerettes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Cierra Benavidez and Justina Duran made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Benavidez kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Duran struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Benavidez went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Duran went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa lost 18-1 to Estancia on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost four in a row.

Mora's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Santa Rosa, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
