Softball Recap: Dodson's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Dodson won against Ringgold on Monday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Dodson Panthers beat the Ringgold Redskins by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-4. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alora Marker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Marker was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Zoey Goss was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Underwood, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Dodson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win (which was Dodson's third in a row) raised their record to 6-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ringgold, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Dodson Panthers face off against Saline Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saline will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Dodson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ringgold, they have already played their next game, a 14-4 loss against Dodson on the 10th.
