Baseball Game Preview: Tustin Tillers vs. Bellflower Buccaneers

The Tustin Tillers will head out on the road to challenge the Bellflower Buccaneers at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Tustin turned things around against Laguna Hills on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Hawks.

Adam Whyte made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Benally, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nyte Teeter, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellflower). They blew past San Diego 15-1 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.

Tustin's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 3-12-1. As for Bellflower, their record is now 7-11.
