Basketball Recap: Taos Victorious

Bernalillo came into Tuesday's game looking for another win against Taos, but Malakhai Ely wouldn't allow it. The Taos Tigers enjoyed a cozy 69-52 win over the Bernalillo Spartans on Tuesday thanks in part to Ely, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 16.6 points per game.

Another player making a difference was Mario Rodriguez, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points and six steals. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high.

Taos' victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bernalillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Taos Tigers take on the Robertson Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on December 26th. Robertson will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Taos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bernalillo, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-52 loss against Espanola Valley on the 18th.
