Baseball Recap: West Wolfpack vs. Tracy Bulldogs

West had lost 24 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-25 to make it 25. They lost 12-2 to the Tracy Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Tuesday.

Ryan Mendez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Tracy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-18 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Tracy's side, Juan Godoy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Godoy a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Tracy got a massive performance out of Brady Brown, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Brown is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-18 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jacoby Freitas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As of now, neither West nor Tracy have any future games scheduled.
