Basketball Recap: Elevation Prep Academy Comes Up Short

Elevation Prep Academy lost against Lake Norman Christian back in November of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers were outmatched by the Lake Norman Christian Lions and fell 92-62. While losing is never fun, the Honey Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while the Lions are ranked 166th).

Elevation Prep Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LONNIE DELOATCH, who posted 13 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave DELOATCH a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was HARVEY BEDELL, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Elevation Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Elevation Prep Academy dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Lake Norman Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-11.

Elevation Prep Academy will be playing at home against Oak Hill Academy Red at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Norman Christian, they will head out to take on Westminster Catawba Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Norman Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Westminster Catawba Christian likes a good challenge.
