Recap: Saranac Spartans vs. Northern Adirondack Bobcats
After a string of three wins, the Saranac Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northern Adirondack. While losing is never fun, Saranac can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 568th, while Northern Adirondack is ranked 241st).
Saranac's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Cayea, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cayea has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carson Duffield, who scored 13 points.
Saranac now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Northern Adirondack, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saranac will stay at home for another game and welcome Moriah at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. One thing working in Moriah's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Northern Adirondack, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Peru at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Peru is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
