Softball Game Preview: Uxbridge Spartans vs. Tantasqua Regional Warriors

The Uxbridge Spartans will head out to square off against the Tantasqua Regional Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are still undefeated (Uxbridge has 12 wins , while Tantasqua Regional has six).

Uxbridge came out on top against Grafton on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Gators a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Erin O'Day made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lola Grube was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Gabriela Belanger also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Tantasqua Regional made easy work of Bay Path RVT on Thursday and carried off an 18-0 victory. The Warriors are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fourth contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Uxbridge pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Tantasqua Regional, their record is now 6-0.

Uxbridge took their win against Tantasqua Regional in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
