Basketball Game Preview: May Tigers vs. Huckabay Indians

The May Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Huckabay Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. May is coming into the game hot, having won their last 18 games.

Last Tuesday, May didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Zephyr, but they still walked away with a 37-33 win.

Meanwhile, Huckabay had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 57 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 69-12 victory over the Bobcats. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Bobcats are ranked 1282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

May's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Huckabay, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season.

May ended up a good deal behind Huckabay when the teams last played back in February of 2020, losing 47-29. Can May avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
