Basketball Recap: Gabe Pridemore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Russell over Paintsville

Russell was the 62-59 winner over Paintsville when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Russell Red Devils received a blow on Saturday as they fell 66-47 to the Paintsville Tigers.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabe Pridemore, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points. Caleb Rimmer was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Russell's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Paintsville, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.

Russell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-39 victory against Fairview on the 4th. As for Paintsville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-69 defeat against Martin County on the 4th.
