Baseball Game Preview: Wheat Ridge Farmers vs. Green Mountain Rams

The Wheat Ridge Farmers will head out to challenge the Green Mountain Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wheat Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Lincoln on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-6 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Farmers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Green Mountain entered their tilt with Evergreen on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Cougars. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Green Mountain got a great performance from Caden Kelly as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Kelly has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Demetreus Padilla was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Green Mountain's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Wheat Ridge, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.

Wheat Ridge might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Green Mountain in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Farmers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
