Softball Recap: Stuttgart Comes Up Short

Stuttgart had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 9-7 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Lonoke Jackrabbits. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jackrabbits this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Tuesday.

As for Lonoke, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. The result was nothing new for the Jackrabbits, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Lonoke's part, Kendra Terry made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Terry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kylee Bell was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Coraline Spires was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Stuttgart didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 22-1 win against Forrest City on the 20th. As for Lonoke, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-2 defeat against Malvern on the 20th.
