Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Cougars vs. Lamar Texans

The Cypress Creek Cougars will face off against the Lamar Texans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Creek is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.

Last Tuesday, Cypress Creek escaped with a win against Cypress Falls by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one point.

Meanwhile, Lamar really took it to Cesar E. Chavez for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-29 win. Given the Texans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Lobos are ranked 896th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lamar is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Cypress Creek, they pushed their record up to 25-11 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
