Basketball Recap: Nash Central Comes Up Short

Nash Central lost against Cleveland back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Nash Central Bulldogs lost 66-41 to the Cleveland Rams. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Rams are ranked 48th).

Despite the loss, Nash Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Markell Jasper went 6 of 13 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Davis, who posted seven points and seven rebounds.

Nash Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cleveland, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Nash Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-40 loss against West Johnston on the 27th. As for Cleveland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-43 victory against Cape Fear Christian Academy on the 27th.
