Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Warriors vs. Perry Pirates

The Edgewood Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Perry Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Edgewood has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Perry will arrive with 12 straight wins.

Edgewood lost 12-2 to Howland on Tuesday.

Edgewood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devon Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was D' Angelo Sanchez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Perry hadn't done well against North recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pirates walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Rangers.

Perry's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Edgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Edgewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Perry in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 19-18. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
