Volleyball Recap: Encina Starts off Right with Win over San Juan

Encina took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the San Juan Spartans. The Bulldogs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 26, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Encina not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept San Juan between 13 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-16.

Sarah Cowley paced Encina's offense, picking up six kills. Cowley got some help from Nyla Pomtong and her 11 assists. Pomtong was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Encina wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Mesa Verde on the 26th. As for San Juan, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Foothill on the 25th.
