The Lee Park Prep Knights will face off against the Central Academy Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lee Park Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Central Academy will be coming in after a loss.
Lee Park Prep barely beat Metrolina Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lee Park Prep blew past Metrolina Christian Academy 14-4 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ansley Green was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She also tossed four walks, marking her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Alexander, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Baylor Currie was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Central Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Parkwood.
Like Lee Park Prep, Central Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Crawford. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and nine unearned) runs off nine hits. Crawford was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Emma Hunt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kieryn Peters, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Even though they lost, Central Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Lee Park Prep's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Central Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lee Park Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .442. However, it's not like Central Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .422. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lee Park Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Academy in their previous meeting on March 3rd, winning 10-5. Will Lee Park Prep repeat their success, or does Central Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
