Softball Recap: Hatch Valley Takes a Loss

Hatch Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 10-7 to the Lordsburg Mavericks. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to the Mavericks when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jaidyn Martinez and Yaneisy Carranza stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Carranza scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Maggie Reyes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Hatch Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. Lordsburg has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hatch Valley will take on Rehoboth Christian in a tournament on Friday. As for Lordsburg, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Hot Springs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
