Baseball Game Preview: Sprague Olympians vs. South Eugene Axe

The Sprague Olympians will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the South Eugene Axe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Sprague nor South Eugene posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Sprague's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Servite, sneaking past 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Olympians.

Meanwhile, South Eugene might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Silverton who claimed the real prize. South Eugene fell just short of Silverton by a score of 3-2.

South Eugene saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Van Ryzin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Van Ryzin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Gavin Bush also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

South Eugene now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Sprague, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Sprague took their win against South Eugene in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 16-4. Does Sprague have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Eugene turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
