Basketball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Prout Crusaders

Woonsocket is 0-4 against Prout since January of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Woonsocket Villa Novans will challenge the Prout Crusaders at 7:00 p.m.

Woonsocket is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of Burrillville.

Despite the loss, Woonsocket saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sklya Caro posted 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Caro. Another player making a difference was Jelysa Moise, who had nine points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prout). They claimed a resounding 68-13 win over Achievement First Providence. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Prout's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Woonsocket, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Woonsocket might still be hurting after the 49-24 loss they got from Prout in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Woonsocket avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
