Softball Recap: Greenfield-Central Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Greenfield-Central took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against Hamilton Heights, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Huskies 3-1. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on four straight.

Addie Heacox tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Savvanna Riall was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristen Wineinger, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Greenfield-Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive contests.

Greenfield-Central pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs across that stretch. As for Hamilton Heights, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

Coming up, Greenfield-Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton Heights, they will square off against Alexandria-Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
