Softball Recap: Roosevelt Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Roosevelt extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Bishop Union. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Broncos. The Rough Riders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Iyanna Molano was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Roosevelt let Natalie Torres and Alicia Maldonado run wild. Torres went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Maldonado went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave Maldonado a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samantha Rivera, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Bishop Union, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-8.

Coming up, Roosevelt will take on Strathmore at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rough Riders surely won't give up without a fight. Bishop Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
