Basketball Recap: New Designs University Park Gets the Win

New Designs University Park won the last time they faced Gertz-Ressler, and Nicholas Hambrick did his part to make sure it happened again. The New Designs University Park Cardinals walked away with a 40-29 victory over the Gertz-Ressler Pumas on Wednesday thanks in part to Hambrick, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two).

Gael Mejia was another key player, putting up five points in addition to 13 boards and three steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 11 times he's played.

Despite the loss, Gertz-Ressler still got an impressive performance from Kenneth Diaz, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Rios, who posted seven points and five boards.

New Designs University Park's record is now 12-2. As for Gertz-Ressler, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

New Designs University Park has already played their next contest (against East College Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gertz-Ressler will head out on the road to challenge Neuwirth Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gertz-Ressler is facing Neuwirth Leadership Academy at the right time seeing as Neuwirth Leadership Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
