Softball Recap: Organ Mountain Extends Winning Streak to Three

Organ Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the St. Pius X Sartans with a sharp 15-6 win.

Hannah Justus was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Siennah Otero, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Leah Melero, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Organ Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Organ Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Pius X, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Organ Mountain will take on Farmington in a tournament on Saturday. Organ Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season. As for St. Pius X, they will be taking part in a tournament against Roswell at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. St. Pius X also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.5 runs per game.
