Football Recap: Silver Creek Raiders vs. Evergreen Valley Cougars
Silver Creek took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). Their defense stepped up to hand the Evergreen Valley Cougars a 20-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Jasean Amataga was a one-man wrecking crew for Silver Creek as he rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Amataga got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 95 yards.
Silver Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Silver Creek's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Juan Vieyra and Austin Price. Price also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Silver Creek will host Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Evergreen Valley, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Cupertino at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
