Baseball Recap: Carmel Takes a Loss

Carmel had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it four. They came up short against the John Jay Patriots, falling 13-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Carmel saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Seddio, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

As for John Jay, their record is now 14-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the match before.

On John Jay's side, Anthony Batkay looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Batkay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, John Jay got a massive performance out of Shane Driscoll, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Driscoll has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Seipp, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Carmel has already played their next game, a 15-3 loss against Yorktown on the 9th. As for John Jay, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 victory against Port Chester on the 10th.
