Basketball Game Preview: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Salem Hills Skyhawks

Spanish Fork hasn't had much luck against Salem Hills recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spanish Fork Dons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Salem Hills Skyhawks at 5:15 p.m.

Spanish Fork is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-54 heartbreaker at the hands of Maple Mountain.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem Hills). They walked away with a 62-55 victory over Springville on Friday.

Salem Hills' win came from a few key players Spanish Fork will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chenielle Nye, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Brooke Warren, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.

Salem Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Salem Hills' win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Spanish Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Spanish Fork couldn't quite finish off Salem Hills when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 51-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Warren, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Now that Spanish Fork knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
