Baseball Game Preview: Palisades Pirates vs. Salisbury Township Falcons

Palisades and Salisbury Township are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Pirates will welcome the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Palisades is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Notre Dame-Green Pond hit Palisades with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates fell 11-6 to the Crusaders. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Crusaders since on Wednesday.

Jackson Butler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Palisades: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sean Camp, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Salisbury Township was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern Lehigh.

Caleb Gonzalez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Salisbury Township's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Palisades, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palisades hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Salisbury Township struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
