Softball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Newport extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They came up short against the Bellevue Tigers, falling 19-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-0 back in April.

As for Bellevue, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12. Considering they have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Bellevue's part, Maria Arzamendia was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Arzamendia a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Willow Lowe-Hoelmer, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Newport will welcome Williamstown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bellevue, they will head out to face off against Calvary Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
