Basketball Recap: Carter Craven's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Winner over Gregory

Winner was the 55-48 winner over Gregory when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Winner Warriors and the Gregory Gorillas didn't end well, with the Winner Warriors falling 53-39.

Winner's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Craven, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 41% of Winner's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Shawn Hammerbeck was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 10 points and six boards.

Gregory's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cruz Klundt, who put up nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Bearshield, who earned 12 points and four steals.

Winner's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Gregory, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Winner has already played their next game, a 61-45 win against Miller/Highmore/Harrold on the 4th. As for Gregory, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-34 victory against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton on the 4th.
