Football Recap: Memorial Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Seven Lakes last Friday, Memorial came back down to earth. The Mustangs took a 37-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pearland Oilers on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 381st, while the Oilers are ranked 67th).

Despite the loss, Memorial still got an impressive performance from Conrad Bennett, who rushed for 88 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Ja'Maurey Champion had an outrageously good game for Pearland as he rushed for 269 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Champion showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 69 yards. Jake Westmoreland was another key player, throwing for 111 yards and a pair of TDs.

Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pearland, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-20 victory against Cypress Ranch on the 12th. As for Pearland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-0 win against Sam Rayburn on the 12th.
