Basketball Game Preview: River City Believers Academy Soldiers vs. Gateway Christian Eagles

The River City Believers Academy Soldiers will take on the Gateway Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway Christian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on River City Believers Academy, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, River City Believers Academy turned things around against Waterloo last Friday. They snuck past Waterloo with a 37-33 win.

Lukas Cox had an outrageously good game as he went 10 of 17 en route to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 24 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Brennen McGuire, who posted five points along with 14 boards and five assists.

River City Believers Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Gateway Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 63-42 to Heritage Christian.

Gateway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for River City Believers Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

River City Believers Academy couldn't quite finish off Gateway Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 39-36. Can River City Believers Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
