Baseball Recap: St. Paul Find Success

The St. Paul Swordsmen beat the Buena Park Coyotes 7-2 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Swordsmen.

St. Paul got a great performance from Jacob Castellanos as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, Castellanos posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Gerard Bueno was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marcus Munoz, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

St. Paul kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

St. Paul's record now sits at 13-7. As for Buena Park, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Paul will take on Paramount at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Buena Park, they will face off against Katella at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Coyotes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
