Basketball Recap: Coronado Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Coronado, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They secured a 73-67 W over the Clairemont Chieftains on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Islanders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Several Chieftains players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Omar Rodarte, who went 8 for 16 en route to 24 points. That was a full 35.8% of Clairemont's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Nate Powell was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Clairemont, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Coronado will challenge Point Loma at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Loxly Johnson and Grant Stewart. As for Clairemont, they will face off against Crawford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clairemont knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Crawford likes a good challenge.
