Volleyball Recap: Maine South Takes a Loss

Maine South was the 2-1 winner over Lake Zurich when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears on Saturday.

Leo Trespeces-Winck paced Maine South's offense, picking up seven kills. Trespeces-Winck got some help from Gabriel Redzic and his 16 assists. Redzic was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Maine South's loss dropped their record down to 21-11. As for Lake Zurich, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season.

Maine South will head out on the road to take on Glenbrook North at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Spartans have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Lake Zurich, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Barrington on the 12th.
