Baseball Recap: Morehead Takes a Loss

Morehead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 15-4 to the Rockingham County Cougars. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jacob Sands made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Zachary Grogan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Morehead's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Rockingham County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Coming up, Morehead will take on Walkertown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Morehead has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Rockingham County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Rockingham County Cougars challenge Eastern Guilford Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
