Basketball Recap: Centura Comes Up Short

Centura lost against Gothenburg back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Centura Centurions took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gothenburg Swedes. The Centurions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Centura still got an impressive performance from Barrett Fries, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Fries is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyus Francl, who posted nine points and four steals.

Centura's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Gothenburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Centura will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Doniphan-Trumbull at 7:30 p.m. Doniphan-Trumbull is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for Gothenburg, they will head out to take on Cozad at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Cozad's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
