Baseball Game Preview: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. Valley Christian Defenders

The Laguna Beach Breakers will be taking part in a tournament against the Valley Christian Defenders at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Laguna Beach is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over El Toro. The win continues a trend for the Breakers in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

Branson Wade tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Lincoln Adams and Becker Sybirski did most of the damage at the plate: Adams scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Sybirski scored three runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, Adams also posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Arrasin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Laguna Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Toro only posted a batting average of .290.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian got the win against Cabrillo on Monday by a conclusive 28-3.

Riley Jones looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Lucas Witt was a standout: he went 4-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Seth Dahlenburg was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
