Volleyball Recap: Gulf Shores Gets the Win

Gulf Shores lost to Oak Mountain back in September of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Dolphins narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Eagles 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dolphins.

Gulf Shores had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 15-2.

Their offense was headlined by Macey Moore and Elle Helton, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Velmira Sobol and her 18 assists. Moore was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Gulf Shores' win bumped their record up to 27-8. As for Oak Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-20 record this season.

Gulf Shores wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Wilson on the 10th. As for Oak Mountain, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Mobile Christian on the 10th.
