Basketball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hoover can now relate to. They were dealt a 65-31 defeat at the hands of the Sissonville Indians on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite the defeat, Hoover had strong showings from Eden Niewierowski, who posted seven points, and Ayva Veltri, who earned ten points. Those seven points gave Niewierowski a new career-high.

Makaela Ullman was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine boards for Sissonville. Ullman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Ava Hillabold was another key player, shooting 43% from the field on her way to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Sissonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Hoover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sissonville, they will square off against Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
