Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Oakleaf's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Oakleaf won the last time they faced Bishop Snyder and things went their way on Friday too. The Oakleaf Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over the Bishop Snyder Cardinals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oakleaf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makiya Trusel, who posted 21 points and three steals. The matchup was Trusel's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmin Davis, who earned 11 points and five rebounds.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryonna Grimes, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and five boards. Grimes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Shelby Gaines was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Oakleaf has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Bishop Snyder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-6.

Oakleaf has already played their next game (against Columbia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bishop Snyder wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-44 loss against Riverside on the 27th.
