Baseball Game Preview: Owensboro Red Devils vs. Eastern Eagles

The Owensboro Red Devils will face off against the Eastern Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Owensboro made easy work of McLean County and carried off an 11-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, Eastern earned a 7-2 win over Ballard on Thursday.

EJ Eggen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Eastern is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-17 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Niko Williams, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Eastern: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 9-17 otherwise. Matt Collier was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 11-18. As for Owensboro, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.
