Basketball Game Preview: Dolores Bears vs. Telluride Miners

Dolores hasn't had much luck against Telluride recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dolores Bears will host the Telluride Miners at 3:00 p.m. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Dolores is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-52 heartbreaker at the hands of Ridgway. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bears have suffered since December 14, 2024.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Trayton Traweek, who posted 21 points and six boards. That was a full 40.4% of Dolores' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Nielson, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Telluride didn't have quite enough to beat Olathe on Wednesday and fell 56-53.

Dolores' loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Telluride, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
