Softball Game Preview: Robert C. Byrd Eagles vs. Petersburg Vikings

The Robert C. Byrd Eagles will square off against the Petersburg Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Robert C. Byrd is looking for their season's first win.

Friday just wasn't the day for Robert C. Byrd's offense. They came up short against Frankfort on Friday, falling 15-0.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Petersburg and St. Marys meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Vikings lost 9-3 to the Blue Devils.

Miley Tingler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Chew, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Robert C. Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Petersburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.

Robert C. Byrd might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Petersburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
