Softball Recap: Canton Warriors vs. Montgomery Red Raiders
Canton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to the Montgomery Red Raiders. Canton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Montgomery apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
For Montgomery's part, Ava Hartman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Hartman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Hartman was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Brynn Fisher was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Summer Drick was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Montgomery, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-7.
As of now, neither Canton nor Montgomery have any future games scheduled.
