Basketball Recap: Redeemer Christian Falls Short of Meadowbrook Academy in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Redeemer Christian can now relate to. They were beaten by the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs 65-35 on Wednesday. The Lions have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Redeemer Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Graidy Hughes posted four points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

Even though they lost, Redeemer Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Davis Lehman was a one-man wrecking crew for Meadowbrook Academy as he went 7 of 16 on his way to 21 points along with seven boards and five steals. Lehman is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Ross, who had ten points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Redeemer Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 19-6 record this season.

Redeemer Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they will face off against Seven Rivers Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meadowbrook Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.
