Soccer Game Preview: Washington vs. Independence

Washington is 0-4 against Independence since January of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Washington Rams will welcome the Independence Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Washington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

Last Wednesday, everything went Washington's way against La Joya Community as Washington made off with a 4-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight games by three goals or more so far this season.

Itzel De La Cruz Perez and Sherlyn Benitez Gutierrez scored all four of Washington's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 47 goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Independence was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They fell just short of Youngker by a score of 2-1.

Washington's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those six contests. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4-1.

Washington might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Independence in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
